Project Pehel

The project that started it all. A small initiative that has made a huge difference. A gap in the haves and have nots and a loop hole in the product supply chain that make a difference in so many lives.

Canned products with damaged labels which were unsuitable for sale but with proper products inside were collected from several importers and then sold notionally to raise supplies as well as products which were then distributed to the needy. The project went on for two summers and is still going on today. This project was done with the help of India Vision Foundation and Anahita organization.

Recognition was recieved by Jesica by way of the Pramerica Award in 2013; as well as a facilitation by the Flag Foundation of India.

Project Suneera

Churi Ajitgarh village in Rajasthan was in bad shape. It is a very dry region and the people had to walk hours every day to get water. Though this is common practice in numerous villages in India, we found that the Village was ripe for change.

The water table was high enough to be exploited by a tube well and Pehel was determined to raise the funds to make this possible. In addition to distributing the canned goods to the underprivileged, we also began selling them at fairs to broadminded consumers.

We soon had the resources to install the tube well.  Pehel went to Churi Ajitgarh in May of 2014 and made a deep and sustainable impact in the lives of the villagers. They can now devote more time to their crops and other daily activities. We advised the mothers who would originally spend hours a day walking to get water to instead spend time with their children and aid in their education.

Rural Outreach Program

The program aims to help the neglected rural areas in and around New Delhi, especially in Rajasthan.

Almost adjoining the National Capital region, Rajasthan is a paradox where some parts especially those with active tourism receive grants and are fairly developed, however a short distance away lie highly neglected villages where basic amenities are hard to come by.

Previous Initiatives: Before Pehel

Cyclothon

(Modern School, Barakhamba Road)

Final year in school an emotional one. Students have spent most of their growing years in school and it is their second home and a farewell event is an important one.

This format of the farewell was primarily Jesica's brainchild, a Cyclothon was organized for the Modern School Barakhamba Road Karamcharis or the cleaning staff of the school with a dental and eye camp.

When the tests indicated that 3 karamcharis or workers required cataract operations (which they could not afford) , Pehel swung into action and helped by raising money through stalls as well as approached the right channels to get subsidized treatment for them.
