“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
- Mahatma Gandhi
Pehel Initiative is a young organization that is driven by young energy. It’s goal is to make directed development and quantifiable differences wherever possible; to continually touch lives and make community a better place to be.
Our mission is to open roads to sustainable development, to mobilize young people in Delhi to become advocates of change - to look beyond the obvious.
Pehel is a registered NGO under the Indian Trusts Act.
How do we do it?
We put waste to use. Jesica Malhotra identified a loop in the supply chain of certain canned foods. She found that a large quantity was being disposed of due to a deformations of the can - not the food. So, she began collecting these deformed cans with the aim of giving form to the lives of others.
She sold these canned goods at fairs and used the money to fund her various projects - funding a kidney transplant for an underprivileged young man, cataract surgery for two old women, and a tube well for a dry village in Rajasthan.
Highly driven by the thoughts of the Mahatma, the organization believes in being the change that one wants to see in the world. A deed is a deed - never too big or too small.
